Max,

I think another issue your post raises is how did we as Deadheads go to shows? I know I struggled with my intake of certain substances early on. (like a kid in a psychedelic shop) but at the same time even when I left the 'high life' behind ,I never became a big "Wharf Rat" supporter.

The only time I wished I was in an altered state was for Baba O'reily, because I was no fan of that song as covered by the Dead.

Good point Chris...The 3 shows I was lucky enough to be at, I was so far out of my head I didn't properly appreciate any of them...I think..and I wondered about that too, Max. According to Phil's book, everyone was doin everything (cept acid) during the mid 70s...yet they regularly produced the finest quality music...was it a case of the music playing them? or am I still out of my head? well actually I am cos I just had a toke of some very agreeable pollen...
